One of my top gigs was Prince at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2002 when I ended up on stage with the wee man, shaking a tambourine while he tore through Alphabet Street.
The only gig to rival it was Moondo at the Garage in Hopeman in 1980. It was a short set, the seated Moondo performing just the one song five times before a three-strong crowd.
He strummed his guitar and sang ‘If you’re in love with a beautiful Miss Maxwell’, taking from Dr. Hook to celebrate the woman we all loved, our Primary 4 teacher, the blonde goddess, Miss Maxwell.
